Romanians start collecting gold, silver medals at European Kayak and Canoe Flatwater Championship

Romania received gold and silver medals at the European Kayak and Canoe Flatwater Championship ongoing this week-end in Zagreb. The Canoe 2 team Liviu Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi won the gold medal at the 1,000 meters canoe race in Zagreb. The two qualified for the Olympic Games in London this summer.

The Romanian Canoe 4 team, made of Iosif Chirilă, Cătălin Costache, Mihail Simion and Florin Comănici won the silver medal at the same competition, coming second after Belarus. In the paracanoeist finals, the 200 meters, Romanians were the most successful, with two gold medals: Mihaela Lulea and Iulian Şerban. Romania's Kayak 4 team for the silver medal on Sunday (June 24 ) at the 1,000 meters final. The team Traian Neagu, Toni Ioneticu, Ştefan Vasile and Petruş Gavrilă ended the race ahead of Serbia, but after Denmark, which won the race. editor@romania-insider.com
