Three Romanians sell Serbian cable operator for EUR 50 mln

Romanian investor Mihai Sotropa, one of the few local entrepreneurs who entered the cable TV market in the early 90s and are still active in the industry, sold together with his two Romanian associates the IKOM cable company, established in Belgrade in the early 2000s. The company, which has become one of the largest players in the cable TV market in Belgrade, was taken over by KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts), a US private equity fund with real estate, telecom, energy and infrastructure investments, reports local Ziarul Financiar. The transaction between IKOM and KKR, via the SBB cable company, was signed last autumn and received the agreement of the Serbia's Competition Protection Committee three months ago. The last formalities are being finalized during this period. The transaction was worth about EUR 50 million, which will be paid over a 5-year period . editor@romania-insider.com
