Over 1.5 million Romanians re-directed 2 percent of their taxes to NGOs last year, totaling EUR 18.2 million, according to data from the country's Fiscal Administration Agency. 17,300 companies have re-directed 20 percent to NGOs, around EUR 90.7 million.
In 2009, 1.7 million Romanians re-directed 2 percent of their income tax to NGOs, totaling EUR 33.6 million.
Romanians can donate 2 percent of their income tax to an NGO of their choice or private scholarships.
