Romanians have more expensive holidays

About 17% of the Romanian tourists pay over RON 4,000 (EUR 891) for their planned holidays this year, compared to only 5% in 2005, according to a survey carried out by the National Association of Travel Agencies. More than a quarter (28%) of the tourists spend between RON 2,000 and RON 4,000, compared to 7% in 2005, reports local Mediafax. Only 11% of the tourists pay less than RON 1,000 (EUR 222) for their family holiday budget compared to more than a third (34%) in 2005. Almost half of the tourists (42%) have a holiday budget between RON 1,000 and RON 2,000 (EUR 444), compared to 34% in 2005. Some 22% of the respondents to the survey haven’t been on holiday last year, compared to 44% in 2004. Half of the population goes on holiday in the country, like ten years ago, but the tourism abroad has almost tripled in ten years.
