The Romanian women’s epee team won silver on Sunday at the World Cup competition in Legnano, Italy, after losing to Russia in the final, 30-42. Romania’s team, consisting of Ana-Maria Popescu (CSA Steaua), Simona Gherman (CSA Steaua), Simona Pop (CSA Steaua), and Loredana Dinu (CS Dinamo), defeated Sweden in the quarterfinals with 45-37 and then beat France in the semifinals with 36-31. The US team got the bronze after it defeated France with a score of 28-22. In 2014, Romania also came second at the World Cup in Legnano, after losing to Estonia in the final, with a score of 29-33.
