Romanian who broke out of prison in France turns himself in

A Romanian aged 25, who escaped from a prison in French city Amiens on Tuesday night, decided to turn himself in on Thursday morning. “He turned himself in to the police station in Reims on Thursday morning at 08:30, and was taken back into custody,” said Bernard Farret, a prosecutor from Amiens, cited by Le Parisien. The Romanian is one of the three convicts who escaped from the prison in Amiens. They’ve cut through the bars of their cell and escaped out the window using ropes and sheets. The police were still searching for the other two, who are Moldovans. The Romanian was placed under preventive arrest in June for fraud. One of the two Moldovans has been in prison for aggravated theft since January and was not due for release until at least 2018 while the other one was imprisoned in October and was subject to an extradition request for rape.
