Romanian Vlad Iftinca, first pianist at the Metropolitan Opera

Some of the great voices of the world choose to work with Romanian Vlad Iftinca, who is the only Romanian artist employed at the Metropolitan Opera (Met) in New York. He is not only the first pianist of the famous music academy, but also responsible with promoting young talent. Great voices of the world from countries like Mexico, Korea, or from Europe, come to Metropolitan Opera also thanks to Vlad Iftinca. The Metropolitan is, along with the Scala and the Covent Garden, a landmark in world music. Vlad’s parents are also artists: his mother is a mezzo-soprano and his father, a dancer in Romania. Vlad Iftinca collaborated with singers like Deborah Voigt, Thomas Hampson and Luca Pisaroni. His performances had a great success in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hong Kong. He was also chosen to play in “The Barber of Seville”, by Rossini, a Tony Award-winning production. Born in Romania, Iftinca attended the Reina Sofia School of Music and the Real Conservatorio in Madrid, Spain and continued his studies at the Mannes School of Music and the Juilliard School in New York Irina Popescu, irina.popescu@romania-insider.com
