Romanian users can now order an Uber ride from Google Maps

The Uber users in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, and Timisoara can now book a ride directly from the Google Maps app. This way, they can order a ride, follow the driver's route, and contact the driver, without having to open or install the Uber app. Those who don’t have an Uber account can create one in Google Maps, benefiting from a RON 15 discount for their first ride. When booking an Uber ride from Google Maps, the user can verify and compare the waiting time and cost for all the Uber options in their city (uberX, UberSelect and UberChildSeat in Bucharest or uberX and UberSki in Brasov), see an estimation of the cost, follow the driver’s route, contact the driver, and make the payment. Those who don’t see the Uber option when using Google Maps, may have to update the app. Uber launched in Romania in February 2015, when it entered the market in Bucharest. It is now available in Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, and Timisoara as well. UberSKI service is now available in Romania’s Brasov mountain resort Irina Popescu, irina.popescu@romania-insider.com
