Romanian tourists spend over EUR 10 mln for Easter holiday

Romanian tourists who spent their Easter & May 1 holiday in the country or abroad spent over EUR 10.4 million this year, 38% less than last year, according to the the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers - FPTR. Their number reached some 116,000, and about 10,000 of them spent their holidays abroad. Last year, people spent about EUR 14.4 million for the Easter and May 1 holidays. However, unlike last year, this year Easter and May 1 were on the same day, so instead of two holidays, Romanians only had one. This year, many Romanians have chosen rural resorts, with about 50,000 tickets sold, followed by the mountain resorts, with about 22,000 tickets sold. About 20,000 tourists went to the seaside during this period. Mamaia was the favourite seaside resort, with an occupancy rate of 90% for hotels in northern Mamaia and 60% in the rest of the resort. editor@romania-insider.com
