Romanian telecom operator RCS & RDS posts loss in 2010 after profitable 2009

Romanian telecom company RCD & RDS posted a loss last year, after a profit in 2009, according to the company's financial situation, quoted by newswire Mediafax. The company's shareholders have approved to have the loss posted last year covered during the next years, as well as delay the discussion about the revenues and expenses budget for 2011.The actual amount posted as a loss last year was not mentioned. In 2009, the company posted a turnover of EUR 389 million and a profit of almost EUR 50 million. The year before, the company had also posted a loss. RCS & RDS has recently launched a network of Wi-Fi hotspots in Romania which are free for its users. RCS & RDS has 9 million users of cable, internet, satellite TV, mobile and fixed telephony services. The company is controlled by Romanian businessman Zoltan Teszari. It was created 15 years ago and operates on the Romanian market, as well as in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia.
