Romania is one of the EU member states with a rather small fiscal collection rate compared to its GDP, amounting to 32%, said Enache Jiru, State Secretary in the Finance Ministry. The country has gone through fiscal consolidation since 2012. Last year, the budget deficit in terms of cash amounted to 1.5%, compared to an estimated 2.2%. This year, the deficit target is 1.8% in terms of cash and 1.45% in European terms, Jiru said, cited by local Agerpres. The current anti-fraud campaign carried out by the Tax Authority ANAF already yields results, he added. The fiscal control measures increased the revenue collection in GDP by 0.5%, namely with EUR 786 million, in the first quarter of 2015. editor@romania-insider.com
