Romanian private clinic investigated in EUR 2 mln tax evasion case

Romanian police from the Economic Crime Investigation Department carried out 15 houses searches on Thursday morning, August 13. The searches took place in Bucharest and Ilfov and Teleorman counties and targeted people suspected of tax evasion. The damage in this case amounts to over EUR 2 million. The investigation targets a private clinic that, between 2010 and 2014, dodged paying taxes by registering fictitious or inaccurate transactions in the accountancy books. According to local Mediafax, the investigation targets Romgermed private clinic. The clinic allegedly created a fictitious commercial circuit, recording overvalued acquisitions from construction companies. A total of 18 suspects will be brought in for questioning, according to a statement of the Romanian Police. 58 police officers took part in these searches.
