Romanian Post will be able to sell govt. bonds

The Romanian Post will be authorized to sell state bonds to the population and buy them back when they reach maturity, similar to the State Treasury, the Finance Ministry announced. The state thus aims to diversify its bond sales channels to the population. The Romanian Post has over 5,500 access points, 86% of which are in the rural area. According to the Finance Ministry, other EU states also use their national postal operators to sell bonds, including neighboring Hungary. The Romanian Post will get a fee of 0.1% of the value of sold bonds for its services. This year, the Finance Ministry plans to sell RON 4 billion (EUR 860 million) worth of bonds to the population via the TEZAUR Centenary program. The bonds will have medium-term maturities.
