Romanian PM: “I am sure President Basescu will end up in jail, he is a corrupt communist”

Romania’s Prime Minister Victor Ponta recently made harsh comments about the country's president. He said that he was absolutely convinced that President Traian Basescu will end up in jail, adding that he has no fear whatsoever for himself, as he has always respected the law. Moreover, he said that Basescu is a “corrupt communist”. When asked to comment Basescu’s statements according to which he will end up in jail like former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, Ponta said that he has been subject to these kinds of threats for many years and “he doesn’t care”. “Not only I don’t care, but I am absolutely convinced that the one ending up in jail will be Traian Basescu. Because I have always respected the law, I have no fear,” said Ponta. editor@romania-insider.com
