Romanian parents will get one day off a year for children’s medical exam

Romania’s Government has decided to grant parents one day off each year to look after their children’s health. Only one of the parents, or the child’s legal guardian, will get the day off, based on a formal request made 15 days before the intended date of the medical checkup. The parent that takes the day off must also fill up a statement that the other parent hasn’t and will not ask for a day off for the same purpose. The parents can take their children for the annual checkup either in the public clinic or in a private facility, but must show the examination’s results to the family doctor. The family doctor will then issue a certificate, which the parent can then take to his employer as proof. Parents who have three or more children will get two days off each year. The employers have no legal obligation to pay the salary for this day off, according to the Government decision. editor@romania-insider.com
