Romanian National Bank's forex reserves down EUR 1.6 bln

Romanian National Bank's (BNR) foreign currency reserves dropped in January by EUR 1.6 billion compared to the end of the last year. They had gone down to EUR 30.6 billion from EUR 32.2 billion on December 31, 2014. This was due to the debt payments made to the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund. In January, BNR received EUR 1.53 billion, and it cashed out EUR 3.24 billion. The gold reserves amounted to 103.7 tonnes. Despite international developments, its value stood at EUR 3.72 billion. Romania's international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) amounted to EUR 34.3 billion on January 31, 2015, compared to EUR 35.5 billion on December 31, 2014. editor@romania-insider.com
