Romanian music: modern electronic with Cosmin TRG

Known by the public under the alias of Trigga or Cosmin TRG, Cosmin Nicolae has an impressive record as one of the promoters of the drum&bass movement in Romania and abroad. His songs have entertained crowds in clubs across Europe. He has worked with various international labels such as Rush Hour, Bpitch Control, Hessle Audio, Tempa, Hotflush. By Irina Laptoiu Cosmin TRG is also one of the founders of the first website dedicated to this music genre in Romania, drumandbass.ro. A regular on dogsonacid.com, Cosmin's journalistic skills came to fruition on the pages of magazines such as ATM or Rinse Mag. He is currently working in Bucharest, Berlin, Amsterdam and London. In 2002, TRG founded what is known today as the Infamous Crew, alongside with Seb, while starting to mix drum&bass. In time, his style varied from tech, to dark and even to liquid, evolving towards his currently sharp sound, making him a sought-after vibe in almost every electronic urban music festival in Romania and a regular on line-ups for TMBase, Summer Break, 48H. He shared the stage with artists such as Dieselboy, JFB, Henree, Cyantific, Dillinja, Fanu, Black Sun Empire, State Of Mind, Pendulum, D-Bridge, Jay Cunning, Fine Cut Bodies. In 2005, dubstep, a new and intriguing beat made it to the top of TRG’s preferences. Not before long, this particular music genre made its way more and more into his DJ sets also influencing his career as a producer. Trigga had already releases announced for some major drum&bass labels, some of which were names such as Citrus and Strictly Digital. It wasn’t until the end of 2006 that he reached a milestone, his first dubstep release with John Bushby’s label, Digital Distortions. 2007 found him avalanching a wide scale of productions, earning his place on the signature lists of prolific labels, dubstep related, and his trademark sound in famous DJ sets such as Mary-Anne Hobbs, Distance, Martyn, Benny Ill, Pinch, BunZero or John Bushby. At the end of 2007 Cosmin Trigga was already one of the most appreciated newcomers, on a global scale, on the dubstep scene. He had released songs for many famous labels and had collaborations with renowned dubstep artists such as Emalkay or Afterdark.
