All of Romania’s EU operational programmes for the 2014-2020 period will be approved by the end of July, except for the fishing programme. Romania has no excuse not to reach a 100% absorption rate, as it benefits from an equal start with other EU member states, said EU funds Minister Marius Nica. “There are no states which have already spent money on the 2014-2020 programme, there are states that have received those advances following the approval of the programmes,” Nica said, cited by local Mediafax. At the end of May, Romania had a 54% absorption rate of the EU funds, for the 2007-2013 financing period, the lowest of all the countries in the region. editor@romania-insider.com
