Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air expands with base in Liverpool

Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air will open a new air base next year on the John Lennon airport in Liverpool. It will be the eighth European base of the Romanian company. For the new airport, the company will allocate a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 189 seats that will operate daily flights to Roma Fiumicino, four flights a week to Milan Bergamo and Hamburg, and three flights a week to Alicante. Blue Air currently operates flights from Liverpool to Bucharest, Bacau, and Cluj-Napoca in Romania. For the new base, the company will hire 35 people responsible of recruiting and training employees for pilot positions, flight attendants, and engineers. Blue Air began to operate flights from Bucharest to Liverpool in December 2004. Blue Air currently has bases in Bucharest, Bacau, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, and Constanta in Romania, and in Larnaca (Cyprus) and Turin (Italy) abroad. editor@romania-insider.com
