Romanian Govt. survives no confidence motion with no MPs casting votes after man injured in Parliament

The Romanian Government survived a fourth no-confidence motion this year as none of the MPs cast a vote on the motion on Thursday, after a man working for the public television jumped from one of the room’s balconies and injured himself. The plenary meeting was resumed after the incident, but opposition lawmakers left and ruling coalition members did not cast any votes. Senate deputy chairman Petru Filip declared the motion rejected, which means the unitary wage law for the public sector has been adopted. The motion needed 236 votes in favor to pass. This is the second no-confidence motion this week and the fourth this year against the Government led by Emil Boc. A man jumped from the balcony of the Romanian Parliament’s plenary meeting room Thursday, protesting against the austerity measures, which reduced some of the financial rights he was entitled to for one of his children, who is autistic. Adrian Sobaru, 40, electrician with the public television TVR, shouted at the prime minister from one of the room's balconies.
