Romanian gets his fourth gold medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics

Romanian Rares Darius Buhai got his fourth gold medal at this year’s International Olympiad in Informatics and went into the competition’s Hall of Fame. He ranked 21st of a total of 322 students who competed at the Olympiad in Almaty, in Kazakhstan. Buhai, who graduated from the Liviu Rebreanu National College in Bistrita earlier this year, has been courted by the top US universities such as M.I.T., Stanford and Harvard. He chose to continue his studies at the Massachusets Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), according to his Facebook page. Romanian students also got two silver medals and one bronze in Kazakhstan and finished the competition on the 10th place, out of 84 countries. Romania is sixth in the all-time medal ranking of the International Olympiad in Informatics, with 95 medals (28 gold, 42 silver, and 25 bronze).
