Romanian freight transporters reach EUR 11.8 bln revenues in 2017

Romania has the potential to become an important player in the freight transport sector in the region, if the road and rail infrastructure followed the growth trend of the businesses in this sector, according to financial consultancy firm KeysFin. The combined revenues of the companies in this sector increased by 8% last year, to RON 53.8 billion (EUR 11.78 billion). The over 32,000 companies in the sector also recorded combined profits of RON 2.9 billion (EUR 635 million), up by 14.2% compared to 2016. The poor infrastructure, however, is a drag on the business in this sector, according to KeysFin specialists, who expect the revenues in the freight transport sector to maintain a growth rate of just over 8% this year as well.
