Romanian Energy Minister cashed in almost EUR 100,000 from former employer OMV Petrom last year

Romania's Energy Minister Răzvan Nicolescu, who used to work with oil and gas company OMV Petrom before being named minister, last year cashed some EUR 97,000 from Petrom. The money came either directly, or through a contract via Manpower, according to Nicolescu's official public wealth statement. Nicolescu, who took the Energy Ministry helm in March this year, made around EUR 8,100 a month from OMV Petrom last year. According to his official statement of wealth, he owns several bank accounts at ING, the largest of which holds EUR 40,000, as well as EUR 6,000 worth of paintings, a coin collection worth EUR 9,000, gold jewelry worth EUR 5,500 and a EUR 10,000 watch collection.
