Romanian Electro-IT retailer invests EUR 10 mln to link online and offline sales

Romanian electronics and IT&C retailer Altex will invest almost EUR 10 million in software and IT equipment on the long term. It plans to link the online and offline sales in one channel by August 2016, which would help the company move towards becoming a regional player starting 2017. The company has already invested EUR 1 million in this project, said Dan Ostahie, Altex owner, reports local Profit.ro. When the customer buys a new product, he’ll be able to know the history of his purchases both online and offline. The retailer’s long term goal is to expand in the region, Ostahie added. The company has invested over EUR 25 million in its 17 stores and its online sales platform in the last ten years. This year, Altex invested about EUR 1 million in opening a new store in Bucharest’s Mega Mall shopping center, and in November it will open a new EUR 1.5 million Media Galaxy store in Timisoara Shopping City. Altex estimates that its business will increase by 30% this year, to over EUR 400 million. The company operates electro-IT stores under the brands Altex and Media Galaxy.
