Romanian Dacia’s sales in Europe go up by 5% in 2015

Romanian carmaker Dacia’s sales in 30 markets in the European Union and EFTA states went up by 5.1% in 2015, reaching close to 383,000 units. Dacia’s growth rate was under that of the market overall, which went up by 9.2%, to over 14.2 million units, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). The Romanian brand, which is part of French group Renault, ranked 15 in Europe based on its sales, with a market share of 2.7%. It surpassed Spanish brand Seat, which is part of Volkswagen group, as well as Swedish Volvo and Japanese Mazda. However, Dacia was overpassed by South Korean brand Kia, which sold almost 385,000 cars in the 30 analyzed markets. In December, Dacia’s sales in Europe went up by 25% to almost 35,000 units while the market had an overall increase of 16%. New passenger car registrations in Romania went up by 56% in December and by 15.7% in 2015. New car sales in Romania up by 16% in 2015 editor@romania-insider.com
