Romanian Dacia sales go up 13% in Europe

Romanian carmaker Dacia’s sales in Europe went up by 13% in May as the overall passenger car sales increased by 16%. Dacia thus maintained its market share of about 2.8% of the total sales. Dacia car registrations reached over 37,000 units in May, compared to almost 33,000 in May last year. French groups Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen increased their sales by 27.9%, respectively 17.6% whereas US producer Ford recorded a 7.8% growth. German Volkswagen group’s sales went up by 8.8% in May, despite the emissions scandal. In the first five months of the year, the Dacia sales in Europe went up by 4.8%, but the company’s market share slightly decreased to 2.7% as the overall car sales in Europe went up by 9.6%. The Dacia car registrations in Europe amounted to over 176,500 in the first five months, up compared from some 168,500 during the same period of 2015.
