Romanian company Dafora to provide drilling services for Chevron under USD 10 mln contract

Romanian drilling company Dafora, owned by businessman George Calburean, and oil and gas company Chevron recently signed a contract for drilling services in Silistea, Popeni and Iana areas in Romania’s Vaslui county, reads a statement of the company. The value of the contract is of around USD 10.3 million, without VAT. The Romanian company announced earlier this week the signing of a four-year drilling contract with Chevron. Under this contract, Dafora will provide onshore drilling services for the US group in Romania’s Barlad area, starting this autumn. “The F320 (Rig 14) installation will soon complete works on another ongoing project, and will later be included in a modernization program to bring it to the parameters required by the client,” reads the Dafora statement. The American oil and gas company Chevron has recently obtained environmental approval for the placement of drilling wells in the three areas in Vaslui county. Dafora is the leading drilling firm in Romania and performs onshore drilling services for oil, gas and geothermal water. Dafora is controlled by businessman George Calburean, who owns almost 50 percent of the company’s shares, while the company Foraj Sonde Craiova holds a 13.6 stake in the drilling company.
