Romanian companies, last in EU for promoting their businesses online

Only 12% of the Romanian companies with over ten employees advertised their businesses online last year, ranking last in the EU. Less than half (42%) of the Romanian small and medium-sized companies in Romania have websites, according to the marketing agency Perceptum. Malta and Ireland have the highest number of companies using social media to promote their business, with a share of 71%, respectively 66%. At European level, 77% of the small and medium companies have websites, 45% use social networks, and only 25% advertise their business on the internet, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat. Raluca Ghile, executive director of Perceptum, said that the video content will reach a peak this year among the best ways to promote businesses on the internet. According to Internet StatCounter, a company analyzing the internet traffic, mobile devices and tablets surpassed desktops for the first time in terms of Internet usage last year. Therefore, entrepreneurs should remember that mobile phones are used for everything and adapt their online advertising to mobile platforms, according to Perceptum. editor@romania-insider.com
