Romanian band of the week: Les Elephants Bizarres

Described as a disco-punk, indie rock, indie-pop, alternative rock or funk band, Les Elephants Bizarres is part of the indie wave that caught on the Romanian music scene, with influences from electro and pop. With a first appearance in 2008, the number of live performances increased continuously, especially on the Bucharest club scene. The year 2009 brought several live opening concerts for bands like “We Have Band” (UK), “The Haunts” (UK), “A-Lix” (Argentina / France), “Asleep In The Park” (Australia) and “The Prostitutes”(the Czech Republic) and the opening concert for B'estfest, appearing on the same stage with well-known music names such as Motorhead and Moby. The first album, called "Hello" and released in October last year, produced by Bogdan Popoiag (Unu’), contains 10 tracks. The band has seen a climb in radio charts, with the song "Have No Fear" on the second position in Guerilla Radio’s international top. Les Elephants Bizarres launched in March this year their second video for the song “The boys”. Founded in 2007, the band kept the original formula with Catalin Radoi (electric guitar and vocals), Mihai Marin (bass and vocals), Stefan Matei (vocals) and Claudiu Stirbei (drums), adding Nicolae Cazacu (synth) in 2008.
