Romania wants EUR 1.23 bln European funds for transport

Romania submitted 14 projects to access European funds worth EUR 1.23 billion for transportation projects, within the “Connecting Europe Facility”, according to the Ministry of European Funds. The deadline to submit the projects was initially September 11, 2014, but it was extended to February 26, this year. Romania has asked for EUR 890 million to upgrade the railway link between Brasov and Sighisoara, some EUR 136 million to build a multimodal platform in the Galati Port, EUR 92 million to turn an artificial island into a multimodal terminal for oil in the Constanta Port, EUR 15.5 million to establish an intermodal terminal in the free zone of the Giurgiu Port, and EUR 6 million to carry out studies for the Intelligent Transport System. editor@romania-insider.com
