Romania, the most exposed country in EU in case of earthquake, estimated damages amount to over EUR 4 bln

Romania is the most exposed country in the European Union when it comes to a strong earthquake, the estimates showing that the damages would amount to over EUR 4 billion, according to the manager of PAID - the Insurance Against Natural Disasters Pool. In this estimation, PAID considered an earthquake of over 7 degrees on Richter, according to Digi24.ro. One of the strongest earthquakes in Romania took place in March 1977. With a magnitude of 7.2 on Richter, the quake killed over 1,500 people in Bucharest. Several earthquakes happened in Romania in the last month. On October 6, a quake of 5.5 degrees on Richter struck Romania, while on Tuesday (October 15) another tremor shook the country.
