Romania needs to attribute more public contracts electronically

Romanian authorities need to increase the volume of public procurement contracts assigned via the electronic system SEAP, according to a draft project approved by the MPs yesterday. In 2016, the volume needs to amount to 60% of the value of all public procurement contracts. The percentage should increase to 70% in 2017, and to 100% in 2018, reports local Profit.ro. If authorities fail to comply with these targets, they will receive fines of EUR 11,000-22,000. The state could save about RON 4 billion (EUR 886 million) between 2016 and 2018, by increasing the number of public procurement contracts attributed via SEAP. The public procurement contracts assigned via SEAP reached EUR 17 billion in 2014 or 11.5% of the GDP. editor@romania-insider.com
