Romania’s industrial production, up 4.9% in the first quarter

Romania’s industrial production went up by 4.9% (in gross terms) in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2017. In seasonally adjusted terms, the increase was 6.2%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). The mining industry increased its output by 6.1% in the first quarter while the manufacturing industry went up by 5.9%. The energy industry, however, was down 0.8%, according to INS data. In March, the industrial production only went up by 1.2% year-on-year, as a gross series, as the manufacturing industry stagnated. editor@romania-insider.com
