Romania has the greatest potential in Central and Eastern Europe to develop the satellite mobility and mobile communications industry, said Sebastian Metz, general manager of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK). "Romania has over 80,000 engineers working in the IT and telecommunications sector and has human resources and industrial capacity in high technology that can be fully used. There are more than 5,000 innovative companies in Romania, and government programs stimulating business environment will increase their number," said Metz, cited by local Capital.ro. There are currently over 30,000 applications based on satellite network in Europe. Technologies based on Copernicus and Galileo satellites generate an annual turnover of EUR 124 billion, with the annual turnover of satellite-based services estimated to reach EUR 240 billion in 2020, Sebastian Metz added. editor@romania-insider.com
