The Government will give up the latest form of the draft law on public wages and will try to draft a new document that is accepted by its social partners but remains in the current budget limits, said the Government’s spokesperson Dan Suciu. The unions have challenged the draft law recently proposed by the Government. According to the bill, the lowest base salary for state employees should have been RON 1,250 (EUR 280) for people with secondary studies. The highest salary in the public system would have amounted to RON 15,000 (EUR 3,356), according to the latest form of the draft law on public wages. The draft also mentioned that those who had higher salaries than the new levels set in the new law would keep them. editor@romania-insider.com
