Car maker Renault saw its profit soar by a quarter in the first half of 2014, on the back of demand for the Dacia brand, and on expense cuts, according to Bloomberg. Its profit before taxes was of EUR 729 million in the first half of 2014, up from EUR 583 million in the same period of 2013. The demand for Dacia cars was the key source of profit for Renault, and for increase in market share, especially across Europe, which was affected by economic slowdown. Dacia sales in Europe were up 35 percent at six months, triggered by the redesigned SUV Dacia Duster, and by the Dacia Sandero hatchback.
