Renault brings its Twizy two seat electric car to Romania

French carmaker Renault officially launched its two seat electric urban car Renault Twizy in Romania. The price tag for the model is EUR 7,000, VAT included, but this does not include the rent for the battery which is EUR 30 per month, according to a company announcement. Twizy is an ultra-compact vehicle specially designed for urban driving. It’s only 2.34 meters long and 1.24 meters wide, which makes it very easy to creep through the busy city traffic and to park. It is also 100 percent electric which makes it environmentally friendly. “We hope that Twizy will quickly draw supporters among those who have an open mindset to new transport solutions for the urban congestions, but also among those interested in ecological and economic aspects,” said Thomas Dubruel, general manager of Renault Commercial Roumanie. Twizy can be connected to any 220 volts plug and it only take three and a half hours for the battery to charge completely. This will help the car run for 100 kilometers in urban areas. The car can accelerate from 0 to 45 kilometers an hour in 6 seconds, which is about the same as a scooter equipped with a 125 cubic centimeters engine, according to the official presentation made by Renault. It has frontal airbag, brakes on all four wheels, seatbelts, audio system and two storage spaces in the back for a total of 86 liters, which is close to a medium size fridge. It comes in two versions. The light one, which is EUR 7,000 and the heavy one, for EUR 7,700. It can also be purchased through leasing, from EUR 194 a month (including rent for the battery).
