What products do Romanians sell the most on the Internet?

Romanians sell almost anything on the Internet, with apartments, cars, and phones being among the top-selling products on olx.ro, the biggest local classifieds website, in 2016. The categories with the most new ads published on olx.ro were electronics and household appliances, with over 4.15 million ads in 2016, auto, moto and boats – more than 2.51 million ads, fashion and beauty – some 1.85 million, real estate – 1.66 million, and sports, leisure and art – over 927,000, reports local Capital. Olx.ro also checked the number of products reported sold by users when they deactivated the ads. The electronics and household appliances ranked first, with more than 1.4 million products being declared sold by the website's users. Among them, the top-selling products were Samsung smartphones – 260,000, and iPhones – 172,000. Hundreds of thousands of products from the auto, moto and boats category were also sold on olx.ro this year. The users declared 730,000 such products as being sold in 2016, with more than half of them being cars such as Volkswagen, Opel, BMW, Ford, and Audi. The real estate category ranks third, with more than 400,000 properties being declared sold or rented in 2016. Romanians mainly preferred two-room apartments, nearly 180,000 ads in this category being sold or rented in the 30-day period in which the ads were valid. More than 400,000 products from the fashion and beauty category were also sold on Olx.ro this year, among the favorites being the clothing and footwear items, and accessories. Moreover, Romanians also bought 292,000 products from the sports, leisure and art category. More than 82,000 bicycles and over 61,000 pieces of sports equipment found new owners this year. The house and garden category is also in the top. More than 250,000 ads for garden and home furniture, tools, and collectibles were deactivated in 2016, the products being sold to new owners. Romanians also purchased more than 230,000 products from the mother and baby category, and found some 150,000 jobs on the classifieds platform in 2016. More than 3.6 million ads are currently active on olx.ro. The OLX Group also includes Storia.ro, a website dedicated to real estate, and Autovit.ro, the platform where Romanians sell and buy products from the automotive category. The platform's owner is South-African investment fund Naspers, which also owns eMAG.ro, the biggest online retailer in Romania.
