Possible EU funds for revamping metro lines 1 and 3 in Bucharest

Restoration work on Bucharest metro’s lines 1 and 3 could be financed with European funds, according to a statement of metro operator Metrorex. The project to improve public transport service on Line 2, Berceni-Pipera, costs EUR 403 million, without VAT, and work should start in 2015. Representatives of the European Commission, together with those of the Managing Authority for the Sectoral Operational Programme – Transport within the Ministry of Transport visited the Bucharest metro on September 18, accompanied by representatives of Metrorex.
