PM: Romanian is the second most spoken language in Silicon Valley

Romanian is the second most spoken language in Silicon Valley, but the authorities’ intention is not to “export these competences”, but create conditions in the country for specialists, according to Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos. He spoke at the Munchner Technologiezentrum yesterday, during his visit to Bavaria. He also mentioned that Romania has one of the highest internet speeds in the world, but the country also has paradoxes in this field, reports local Agerpres. The internet networks are very well developed in big cities, but in rural areas there are the so-called “white areas”, with no internet connection. “Our project is to invest for generalizing these networks,” Ciolos added. The initiative should belong both to the state and the private companies. At public administration level, the Government is working on an interconnectivity platform, the prime minister said. During his visit to Munich, Ciolos met with representatives of carmaker BMW and tried to convince them to increase their presence in Romania, especially in the electric car segment. editor@romania-insider.com (photo source: Gov.ro)
