Local lender Piraeus Bank Romania recorded a gross profit of EUR 2.1 million in 2014. It managed assets of EUR 2 billion at the end of last year, according to bank representatives. The total value of loans amounted to over EUR 1.4 billion, slightly down compared to 2013. The volume of new loans granted surpassed EUR 300 million, up 50% over 2013. Corporate loans increased by 21%, whereas retail loans continued to go down. The number of issued cards dropped by 3% compared to 2013. Meanwhile, deposits amounted to EUR 1.1 billion on December 31, 2014, up 8% over 2013. At the end of 2014, Piraeus Bank Romania had over 300,000 customers and a network of 130 branches. editor@romania-insider.com
