Petrom's EUR 90 mln Dorobantu wind park in Romania becomes functional

Oil and gas company OMV Petrom has launched operations at its 45 MW Dorobantu wind park in Dobrogea, Romania, the company has announced. The project required EUR 90 million to be built.

The park is equipped with 15 Vestas-V90 turbines with a capacity of 3 MW each. The construction of the park began during the second half of last year and was finalized in July this year. The resulting green certificates allocated to the power generation of this park will be mainly used to cover the regulated quota for the electricity consumption of the Petrom Group, around 1 TWh/year, while the difference will be marketed on the Romanian market. Petrom Group is present in the distribution market for oil products through a network of approximately 800 filling stations, operated under two brands, Petrom and OMV. In Romania, this activity is performed through OMV Petrom Marketing. OMV Petrom Marketing operates 546 filling stations, out of which 389 are Petrom and 157 OMV. The Group also owns an international network of approximately 250 filling stations, located in the Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia. Petrom is building a 860 MW gas fired power plant at Brazi. In 2010, the Group’s turnover was EUR 4.4 billion, while its EBIT was of EUR 709 million. editor@romania-insider.com
