(P) The economic performances of the Romanian companies awarded during the National Top of the Companies

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania organizes on the 22nd of November 2012 the 19th edition of the National Top of the Companies. The aim of this event is to award the companies that rank the first positions in the only classification which respects the laws and the complex and single methodology adopted by the Chamber System in Romania. Successor of the traditional “bargaining of the merchants”, which dates back in 1864, when the first modern Chamber of Commerce was established in Romania and resumed with the rebirth of the Chamber System, precisely in 1994, the organization of the National Top is not only a duty of the Chamber System in terms of law, but also the celebration of the business elite. The National Top of the Companies, reaching its 19th edition, will highlight the economic, political, media environment and also for the national and international public opinion, the names of the best companies which ranked the top, as it is concluded by the economic and financial results for the year 2011, made public by the economic agents operating in Romania. By means of this national ranking, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and the entire Chamber System affirm the contribution to shaping a foreseeable business environment, in which the performance is acknowledged and appreciated. In this respect, H.E. President of the National Chamber, Mr. Mihail M. Vlasov states that “at the end of the road, by being a winner you are aware of the fact that this award glows just for a moment, the moment of the awards and becomes a burden to carry for all that is to come. Again and again and again”. In the current economic and political context the National Top of the Companies is also an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the economic aspects on the public agenda: “Let us hope that in the framework of a new order and an improved attitude towards the businessman, the actual administration and political power will represent for us the partner sought by each correct entrepreneur whom is devoid of greed”, highlighted the President of the National Chamber. 6424 companies qualified within the National Top of the Companies, based on the 2011 results, ranking on the top ten positions in six domains of activity (Research - Development and High Tech; Industry, Agriculture, Fisheries, Fish Farming; Constructions; Services; Commerce, Tourism), each domain being divided into groups according to the CAEN code and different size classes (micro-enterprise, small enterprise, medium enterprise, large enterprise and very large enterprises). Out of all these companies 917 ranked as winners of the National Award in the previously mentioned categories. Most of the awarded companies (precisely 376) are from the industrial sector, followed by the ones from the services sector (271) and also from the commerce and tourism sector (112). This fact represents radiography of the orientation and adjustment of the Romanian business community interests to the current economic development conditions. Within the event, the National Top of the Companies catalogue, 2012 edition will be launched, which comprises the most valuable data basis for the Romanian business environment, hence the information of all the 6424 companies ranking on the top ten positions at the national level, among which 917 rank the first position.
