Former Botosani mayor to lead Romanian Lottery

Former Botosani mayor Ovidiu Portariuc was appointed general director of the Romanian Lottery on Wednesday, October 11. On September 28, the company’s Board of Directors appointed Alexandru Mircea Croitoru as interim general manager for four months. He was previously marketing and sales director within the company, with a ten-year experience in the Romanian Lottery. Croitoru, however, decided to refuse the appointment. The term was too short to implement new projects, he explained. The Board of Directors then decided to appoint the former Botosani mayor. Portariuc is also a former advisor to the finance minister Viorel Stefan in the Grindeanu Government. The Romanian Lottery, which has been involved in corruption scandals, estimates a net profit of RON 61.1 million (EUR 13.3 million) and total revenues of RON 925.4 million (EUR 201.7 million) for this year. editor@romania-insider.com (photo source: Ovidiu Portariuc on Facebook)
