Overdue loan payments decrease in Romania

The overdue payments on individual and corporate loans declined in May both compared to April and May last year, according to Romania’s Central Bank. The arrears on loans in Romanian currency lei reached EUR 2.1 billion in May, down by 1.5% compared to April, and down by 27.8% compared to May last year. The arrears in foreign currency reached EUR 3.1 billion, down by 5.1% compared to April, and down by 29.2% compared to May 2014. The volume of outstanding loans in lei increased to EUR 22 billion in May from EUR 20 billion in May last year.
