The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) last year banned or expelled more than 340 people "with terrorist risk," according to SRI director Eduard Hellvig. Moreover, the institution has also been keeping an eye on 9,000 other people, who are currently not allowed on Romanian territory. "Our priority is the citizens' safety. Terrorism, corruption, organized crime, and cyber attacks target them directly," Hellvig said in joint press conference with President Klaus Iohannis, organized after SRI presented its activity report for 2015. SRI specialists also handled over 550,000 cyber alerts last year. "Behind every result, there are dozens of officers and hundreds of days of work. And there are also the real heroes of the intelligence: our sources," Hellvig added. This year, SRI will continue its activities aimed at preventing terrorism and supporting the international efforts to combat this phenomenon.
