Over 20 villages affected, people left their homes after heavy rain in Vaslui county, eastern Romania

The recent heavy rains across Romania caused floods in parts of the country, which affected numerous villages, houses and roads. In Vaslui county, eastern Romania, the heavy rain at the begging of this week affected 26 villages in eight communes, namely Suletea, Falciu, Malusteni, Rafaila, Delesti, Dragomiresti, Dumesti and Bacesti. Of these communes, the most affected was Bacesti, where 50 people were evicted from 20 flooded houses, while in Malusteni the floods affected 17 km of roads, according to the Vaslui County Council. A total of 74 houses and 68 gardens were damaged in Vaslui county, after heavy rains earlier this week, when the registered rainfall reached 85.5 liters per square meter. Moreover, the floods destroyed 14 bridges, while a total of 92 km of roads were damaged. The heavy rain also affected basements of houses and public institutions in Bucharest - more about it here.
