Orbis group opens Mercure hotel in Sighisoara

The five-star Binderbubi hotel in Sighisoara will be transformed into Mercure hotel in the second half of this year. Polish Orbis Hotel Group, the regional partner of the French group Accor, will run the rebranded hotel. This is the third Mercure hotel that the Orbis group will open in Romania, after the one in Bucharest and the one in Brasov that will be inaugurated this year too. The Orbis group currently manages seven hotels under the Ibis, Novotel, Pullman and Mercure brands, with 1,200 rooms. It has already announced the opening of four other units this year and in the coming years. In total, Orbis and his partner Accor want to reach about 20 units locally. “In Romania, we see potential on the midscale market with the Mercure and Novotel brands,” said Gilles Clavie, Orbis Hotel Group CEO. “We have ongoing negotiations with our local partners to expand our network of hotels, and Mercure is part of them.” editor@romania-insider.com
