Opposition: Romania's governing party wants to give up 16% flat tax

Catalin Predoiu, deputy president of the National Liberal Party (PNL), the main opposition force, yesterday said that the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) “plans to give up the 16% flat tax," reports local News.ro. “The Social Democratic Party, despite the blatant lies uttered by all leaders, starting with Mr. Dragnea (PSD leader) and ending recently with Mr. Grindeanu, the prime minister, plans to give up the 16% flat tax,” Predoiu said. In January, former deputy prime minister Daniel Constantin said that there had been talks in the Government on introducing differentiated taxes for different types of incomes, and that the measure would be applied in 2018.
