One in ten Romanians owns a smartphone, one in twenty has a tablet

About 12 percent of Romanians over the age of 14 own a smartphone and 5 percent own a tablet, according to a market study released by Mercury Research, Agerpres reports. Three percent of Romanians own both a smartphone and a tablet. The report shows that only one in six employees in Romania owns a smartphone, compared to almost 40 percent in the case of high school and college students. When it comes to tablets, 14 percent of Romanian students own such a device, compared to 6 percent of the Romanian employees. The res!com study shows that 20 percent of Romanian smartphone owners and 43 percent of tablet owners never connect to the Internet through their mobile device. These percentages are lower for students. The study, which is national, was made in September 2013 on a sample of 1,200 people. Mercury Research, which has been active in Romania since 1994, offers market research for the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), retail, banking, IT&C, health, automotive and social sectors. editor@romania-insider.com
